Overview

The 2024 financial year was challenging for Northcott, but also one of significant activity and great outcomes for customers.

In this year’s report, you can read many wonderful customer stories of success! Thank you to these customers for sharing their stories – it is the most powerful way we can show our impact.

Despite a difficult operating environment, Northcott’s leadership team and staff have a lot to be proud of. Northcott has continued to deliver high quality services and supports to thousands of children and adults with disability. We have, however, posted a significant operating loss – as shown in our financial results. This is largely because of two key challenges faced by organisations delivering services under the NDIS: how to operate efficiently in a changing environment and fundamental issues with NDIS funding and pricing. Watch our video below for more on these two challenges.

Through our involvement in Ability First Australia, we are actively working to secure more appropriate funding for NDIS services. We are also confident that the reforms recommended by the NDIS Review will go a long way to addressing the pricing and funding issues. But we do urge the Federal and State Governments to implement these swiftly.

Operationally, it has been a busy year for Northcott. We have grown our Community Services, expanded services in Queensland and worked with partners to offer experiences and opportunities outside the usual scope of funded services.

As a NDIS Partner in the Community delivering Early Childhood Services and Community Capacity Building across NSW, we have made an outstanding contribution to thousands of children, their families and communities. This has been while navigating operational changes and new systems, opening in new offices, introducing new teams and adjusting to a new structure.

Looking ahead, we are excited to have a new vision and strategic direction that is centred around 3 core priorities: Do More, Be More and Reach More.

Finally, thank you to our Board, Executive Leadership team, staff, supporters, partners and stakeholders for your contributions to Northcott in 2023-24. And thank you to the people with disability and their families and carers who choose Northcott to support them to achieve their goals.
